    License application

    (A) Any individual who applies for a license shall file a written application with the appropriate specialty section of the Ohio construction industry licensing board, accompanied with the application fee as determined pursuant to section 4740.09. The application shall be on the form the section prescribes.

    (B) To qualify to take an examination, an individual shall: be at least eighteen years of age; be a United States citizen or legal alien; either have been a tradesperson in the type of licensed trade for not less than five years immediately prior to the application date, be a currently registered engineer in this state with three years of business experience in the construction industry, or have other experience acceptable to the appropriate specialty section; maintain contractor's liability insurance; and not have violated this chapter, obtained a license through fraud, or engaged in fraud or deception in business conduct.

    (C) For an individual who holds an out-of-state occupational license that is substantially similar, to qualify to take an examination, the individual shall provide proof of authorizations for construction, tax returns reflecting income earned, and proof tha

    (A) Any municipal corporation may: (1) Regulate the erection of fences, billboards, signs, and other structures, within the municipal corporation, and provide for the removal and repair of insecure billboards, signs, and other structures; (2) Regulate the construction and repair of wires, poles, plants, and all equipment to be used for the generation and application of electricity; (3) Provide for the licensing of house movers; plumbers; sewer tappers; vault cleaners; and specialty contractors who are not required to hold a valid license issued pursuant to Chapter 4740. of the Revised Code; (4) Require all specialty contractors other than those who hold a valid license issued pursuant to Chapter 4740. of the Revised Code, to successfully complete an examination, test, or demonstration of technical skills, and may impose a fee and additional requirements for a license or registration to engage in their respective occupations within the jurisdiction of the municipal corporation.     (A) No person may be employed as a key employee of a casino operator, management company, or holding company unless the person is the holder of a valid key employee license issued by the commission. (B) No person may be employed as a key employee of a gaming-related vendor unless that person is either the holder of a valid key employee license issued by the commission, or the person, at least five business days prior to the first day of employment as a key employee, has filed a notification of employment with the commission and subsequently files a completed application for a key employee license within the first thirty days of employment as a key employee. (C) Each applicant shall, before the issuance of any key employee license, produce information, documentation, and assurances as are required by this chapter and rules adopted thereunder. In addition, each applicant shall, in writing, authorize the examination of all bank accounts and records as may be deemed necessary by the commission.     Section 943.03 - Ohio Revised Code | Ohio Laws

    (A)(1) Application for a license as a dealer or broker shall be made in writing to the department of agriculture. The application shall state the nature of the business, the municipal corporation, township, and county, and the post-office address of the location where the business is to be conducted, the name of any employee authorized to act in the dealer's or broker's behalf, and such additional information as the department prescribes. The applicant shall satisfy the department of the applicant's good faith in seeking to engage in such business. The department shall issue to the applicant a license to conduct the business of a dealer or broker at the place named in the application. Licenses, unless revoked, shall expire annually on the thirty-first day of March and shall be renewed according to the standard renewal procedure of sections 4745.01 to 4745.03 of the Revised Code.     The form and size of licenses issued under this chapter shall be prescribed by the Ohio real estate commission. Each broker's or foreign real estate dealer's license shall show the name and address of the licensee, and in the case of partnership, association, limited liability company, limited liability partnership, and corporation licenses, the name and address of each of the members or officers of the partnership, association, limited liability company, limited liability partnership, or corporation. A real estate salesperson's license or a foreign real estate salesperson's license shall show the name of the real estate broker or foreign real estate dealer with whom the salesperson is or is to be associated. Each license shall be issued under the seal prescribed in section 121.20 of the Revised Code and be signed by the president of the commission.

    Licensees from other jurisdictions

    The superintendent of real estate and professional licensing may issue a home inspector license to applicants holding equivalent credentials from other jurisdictions, provided they submit an application, pay required fees, and meet specified requirements. These include: the applicant's jurisdiction must grant reciprocal privileges to Ohio licensees; licensing requirements must be substantially similar to or exceed Ohio's standards; the applicant must attest to familiarity with Ohio law; and the applicant must provide service of process information and consent to Ohio court jurisdiction. Additionally, the board shall issue licenses to applicants holding licenses in another state or possessing satisfactory work experience, government certification, or private certification as a home inspector in states without licensing requirements, as described in Chapter 4796 of the Revised Code.

    (A) At the time the division of real estate grants the application of any person for a license as a manufactured housing dealer, manufactured housing broker, or manufactured housing salesperson, the division shall issue to the person a license that includes the name and business and mailing address of the person licensed. If a manufactured housing dealer or manufactured housing broker has more than one place of business in a county, the dealer or broker shall make application, in such form as the division prescribes, for a certified copy of the license issued to the dealer or broker for each place of business in the county. (B) The division of real estate may require each applicant for a manufactured housing dealer's license, manufactured housing broker's license, and manufactured housing salesperson's license issued under this chapter to pay an additional fee, which shall be used by the division to pay the costs of obtaining a record of any arrests and convictions of the applicant from the bureau of identification and investigation.     Rule 1301:17-1-04 | Out of state applicants.

    (A) An applicant for an initial Ohio home inspector license may obtain a license pursuant to section 4764.10 of the Revised Code provided the following, including but not limited to, are satisfied: (1) The applicant completes an application prescribed by the superintendent; (2) The applicant submits to criminal background check as found in division (B) of section 4764.07 of the Revised Code; (3) The applicant satisfies all the requirements of section 4764.10 of the Revised Code; and (4) Payment of appropriate fees required by paragraph (A) of rule 1301:17-1-03 of the Administrative Code. (B) Any applicant for an Ohio home inspector license who is doing business in Ohio as, including but not limited to, a sole proprietor, a corporation, a partnership, limited liability corporation, limited liability partnership or an association shall file or register with the Ohio secretary of state.     The administrative section of the Ohio construction industry licensing board is responsible for the administration of this chapter and shall do all of the following: (A) Schedule the contractor examinations each of the other sections of the board directs. Each type of examination shall be held at least four times per year. (B) Select and contract with one or more persons to do all of the following relative to the examinations: (1) Prepare, administer, score, and maintain the confidentiality of the examinations; (2) Be responsible for all the expenses required to fulfill division (B)(1) of this section; (3) Charge an applicant a fee in an amount the administrative section of the board authorizes for administering the examination.     (A) Except as otherwise provided in this section, the administrative section of the Ohio construction industry licensing board shall issue and renew all licenses under this chapter in the name of the individual who meets the requirements of section 4740.06 of the Revised Code. (B) All individuals applying for a license under this chapter shall request, at the time of applying for a license that the individual's license be assigned to a contracting company with whom the individual is employed. If the individual is issued a license and meets the requirements of this section for the assignment of the license to a contracting company, the administrative section shall assign the license to and issue a license in the name of the contracting company.     Ohio Rev. Code § 4703.18 — Prohibiting practice without certificate

    No person may practice architecture or hold forth as an architect without a certificate of qualification issued under Ohio Revised Code sections 4703.01 to 4703.19. The statute provides exemptions allowing non-architects to file building permit applications and prepare plans for residential buildings, replacement equipment installations, and certain modifications where building officials determine no plans are required. Registered professional engineers may engage in architectural practice incident to engineering, and architects may engage in engineering practice incident to architecture. Firms, partnerships, associations, limited liability companies, and corporations may provide architectural services only through registered natural persons and must comply with ownership and management requirements. More than fifty percent of partners, members, shareholders, directors, managers, or trustees must be licensed professionals who own more than fifty percent of interests. Each entity must designate trustees, partners, managers, or directors in responsible charge of professional activities, and corporations must obtain certificates of authorization from the architects board.
